CareerSource Gulf Coast partnered with The Rotary Club of Panama City Beach again on Tuesday, September 22, to provide food to over 330 families in Bay County.
The distribution, sponsored by CareerSource Gulf Coast and the Rotary Club of Panama City Beach was held in the parking lot of the recently closed Panama City Mall. Between these two organizations, and volunteers from multiple local businesses and non-profits, over 36 individuals came together to distribute 20,000 pounds of food to Bay County people in need.
“Volunteering for the CareerSource Gulf Coast food distribution has been a great experience,” said Joey Ginn, volunteer on behalf of Centennial Bank and Alignment Bay County. “It’s evident from the turnout that our community is still in need and can greatly benefit from offerings like free food items. I’m glad to be out here with my coworkers, doing our part to make these distributions a success.”
This distribution also saw a significant increase in the number of individuals who arrived to receive food. The word again spread quickly throughout the community, thanks to efforts by event partners, volunteers, and local media.
“It truly is a community effort to coordinate and carry out each of these events,” said Kim Bodine, Executive Director of CareerSource Gulf Coast. “We are happy to lead the initiative and provide food distributions to those in our area who greatly need it, but we couldn’t do it alone. Thank you to all the event sponsors and volunteers who donate their time and efforts, every time.”
