The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Gulf Coast region (Bay, Franklin, and Gulf counties) was 4.2 percent in May 2021. This rate is 6.5 percentage points lower than the region’s year-ago rate of 10.7 percent. The region’s May unemployment rate was 0.8 percentage points lower than the state rate of 5.0 percent. The labor force was 98,696, up 7,395 (+8.1) over the year. There were 4,128 unemployed residents in the region.

This rate is 8.9 percentage points lower than the region’s year-ago rate of 13.3 percent. The region’s April unemployment rate was 0.7 percentage points lower than the state rate of 5.1 percent. The labor force was 97,140, up 9,486 (+10.8) over the year. There were 4,277 unemployed residents in the region.
On Monday, April 19, all CareerSource Gulf Coast offices will return to full-scale operations, meaning customers will no longer need an appointment to visit CareerSource Gulf Coast locations.
