The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) administered through the Florida Department of Children and Families is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, a federal agency whose funding is affected by the federal government shutdown. Please read this statement and FAQ from the Florida Department of Children and Families on what this means for you.
CareerSource Gulf Coast oversees the SNAP Employment & Training program required of all Able-Bodied Adults without Dependents in Bay, Gulf, and Franklin Counties in partnership with FloridaCommerce.
As such, SNAP E&T services will be suspended in the CareerSource Gulf Coast Job Centers, effective November 1, 2025, until further notice.
Florida’s Welfare Transition and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) emphasize work, self-sufficiency and personal responsibility. Program participants gain valuable skills, training and work experience in an effort to reach total self-sufficiency.
We provide free pre and post-job placement services to individuals referred by the Florida Department of Children and Families. The programs are designed to help participants gain skills and training, and/or work experience that will increase their ability to move directly into employment. Supportive services may be offered to remove barriers to employment. Each participant receives one-on-one career counseling and ongoing support to help their goal of self-sufficiency.
Services may include: career planning workshops, goal setting, resume assistance, childcare referrals, work experience opportunities, budgeting assistance, transportation help, rent and/or utility assistance, clothing needed for interviews, uniforms/tools for work, tuition assistance, and reimbursement services.
