The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Gulf Coast region (Bay, Franklin, and Gulf Counties) was 3.6 percent in October 2021.
Organizations from across the community pulled together to help our area’s homeless veterans. On Friday, November 5, CareerSource Gulf Coast led the effort, hosting the 14th Annual Homeless Veterans Stand Down.
The Board of CareerSource Gulf Coast gathered to mark 25 years of service by the local organization at its annual luncheon, with more than 50 attendees, including Board members, key service providers, program participants, and workforce staff throughout the region.

Rebekah Vassar and Shelley Scarborough were selected as the newest members of the CareerSource Gulf Coast board by the Bay County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC)—Vassar on February 17, 2021, and Scarborough on April 20, 2021.
Aaron Little and Christian Johnson were selected as the newest members of the CareerSource Gulf Coast Board by the Gulf County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC)—Little on February 22, 2021, and Johnson on March 23, 2021.
The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Gulf Coast region (Bay, Franklin, and Gulf counties) was 4.2 percent in May 2021. This rate is 6.5 percentage points lower than the region’s year-ago rate of 10.7 percent. The region’s May unemployment rate was 0.8 percentage points lower than the state rate of 5.0 percent. The labor force was 98,696, up 7,395 (+8.1) over the year. There were 4,128 unemployed residents in the region.
The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Gulf Coast region (Bay, Franklin, and Gulf counties) was 4.4 percent in April 2021. This rate is 8.9 percentage points lower than the region’s year-ago rate of 13.3 percent. The region’s April unemployment rate was 0.7 percentage points lower than the state rate of 5.1 percent. The labor force was 97,140, up 9,486 (+10.8) over the year. There were 4,277 unemployed residents in the region.
