CareerSource Gulf Coast and more than 35 local agencies and organizations have joined together to host Friday’s 15th Annual Homeless Veterans Stand Down, providing resources to the area’s homeless veteran population.

In observation of Memorial Day, all CareerSource Gulf Coast locations will be closed on Monday, May 30. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, May 31.

Registration has opened for the paid Summer Internship Program in Bay, Gulf, and Franklin counties. Youth and young adults under the age of 24 may be eligible if they are graduating with a High School diploma or if they are completing a degree/certification program at Gulf Coast State College or Haney Technical College.

The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Gulf Coast region (Bay, Franklin, and Gulf Counties) was 3.4 percent in December 2021, holding steady with the 3.4 percent in November of 2021. This rate was 0.1 percentage point higher than the region’s year ago rate of 3.3 percent. The region’s December 2021 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage points higher than the state rate of 3.2 percent. The labor force was 97,402, up 6,194 (+6.8 percent) over the year. There were 3,292 unemployed residents in the region.
