CareerSource Gulf Coast partnered with A Hand Up International on Wednesday, May 6, to provide food to over 350 families in Bay County.
“Our community has been suffering from COVID-19 and the impacts it has made on our local economy,” said Kim Bodine, Executive Director of CareerSource Gulf Coast. “With so many individuals out of work, affording necessities is a growing concern. CareerSource Gulf Coast is going to do all we can to help our community through this time, which is why we hosted this distribution.”
The event was sponsored by Gulf Power Company. The organization, a partner of CareerSource Gulf Coast, committed to cover the cost of 20,000 pounds of food from Feeding the Gulf Coast. The distribution was held at the CareerSource Gulf Coast Job Center in Panama City. Within four hours, over 350 families received food.
“It is important that we recognize our friends at Gulf Power,” said Bodine. “Sandy Sims and her team sponsored the event and the food we received. It is because of them that this distribution was possible. We also could not have done it without event coordination from A Hand Up International. Thank you, Gulf Power and A Hand Up!”
