Mobile Food Distribution Scheduled on Hurricane Michael Anniversary

Date: 2019/10/10

On Thursday, October 10, CareerSource Gulf Coast and Second Harvest of the Big Bend will hold a mobile food distribution in Port St. Joe at the CareerSource Gulf Coast Community Resource Center at 401 Peters Street. The special event will be for the first 100 families to arrive.  Participants will be served by volunteers from both CareerSource Gulf Coast and Second Harvest.

“We have partnered with Second Harvest of the Big Bend for many years to provide food to local families in need,” said Lee Ellzey, Director of Workforce Services in Gulf and Franklin Counties for CareerSource Gulf Coast. “We thought Second Harvest’s idea to host this special mobile food distribution on the anniversary of Hurricane Michael was a great idea. Individuals interested in participating don’t have to do anything other than be qualified, based on income, and show up. We will even load the bags/boxes into their vehicles for them.”

Food distributions are held at the CareerSource Gulf Coast Community Resource Center the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, from 1pm-3:30pm EST. The second Tuesday is for qualified candidates with last names beginning with letters A-I. The fourth Tuesday is for qualified candidates with last names beginning with letters J-Z.

Participants must meet income requirements, but identification and proof of income are not required.
